Calibretto Legs Cast

Due to the size of the sculpt I decided that hollowcasting the wax would be a better option... I have done this process before in resin but never in wax. It involved lots of pouring of hot wax into the mold, swilling it around the inside and then pouring back out... and repeat... a few times over. This lines the inside of the mold with wax but only a very thin layer so its not solid.

Calibretto Legs Moulded

As I mentioned before im not a fan of the green tooling wax, so my intention is to transfer the progress I have made so far into sculptors wax. Here are some progress shots of calibrettos legs. Next stage is to release the mould, pray its worked and then hollowcast the mould with hot wax... fingers crossed!!!

Red Monika

Every comic has them... the obligatory big breasted action girl, Battlechasers is no different heres my progress so far- Chavant NSP on an aluminium armature.

Gnolan

Another character from Battlechasers, Gnolan... aluminium armature and roughed out in Chavant NSP.

Gully Mark 2

The original Gully sculpture I did cracked when I baked it due to it drying out, so i have started sculpting another version. Heres the progress pics so far, its built around an aluminium wire armature and the sculpt is roughed out in Chavant NSP.

Calibretto

This is another sculpt I have had on the go for a while, Calibretto from Battlechasers. First stage in the process was to bulk out the sculpt in tin foil (Yes....I used a fair few rolls). Second stage was to cover it in clay, then I transferred it into green tooling wax, I dont particularly like the properties of the green wax, so I am currently in the process of hollowcasting it in some sculptors wax which i have ordered from the states... progress shots of this process and me finishing the sculpt to follow.

Previous work... Gully

I have been doing this as a hobby for a few years now, this was the first sculpt I ever did... Gully from the comic 'Battlechasers' by Joe Madureira... however because I took so long for me to get around to bake it, it cracked and became redundant. I have learnt from my mistakes. But i thought I would post these pics as it all charts my progress to where I am now. I have since started another sculpt of Gully in exactly the same pose which will feature later on in this blog.
